LP technology is forming into a category of its own.

Work that ran on spreadsheets and quarterly PDFs is moving into technology built for it.

And it’s happening at every step of the LP workflow: sourcing funds, vetting managers, keeping the books, monitoring the portfolio and reporting to the board.

AI startups are building LP software from scratch. Custodians, fund administrators and data providers are extending the platforms they already run.

And the LP base keeps widening, as wealth platforms open private markets to individual investors.

That’s a lot to navigate without a map. So we built one.

The LP Tech Market Map sorts all 160+ companies by core product into eight categories.

The Categories

Fund Administration and Accounting: The system behind a fund’s books: NAV calculation, fund accounting, investor ledgers and transfer agency. Established administrators and AI-native newcomers both build here, and every LP’s own books depend on what they produce.

Portfolio Monitoring and Analytics: Tools LPs use to track performance, cash flows, risk and exposure, from each fund down to the companies inside it. They range from dashboards and analytics engines to unified monitoring platforms.

Reporting and Portfolio Intelligence: Portals and reporting engines that turn GP statements into one view across an LP’s funds and entities, ready for its investment committee and board. That view often has to combine private holdings valued once a quarter with public positions priced all day.

Marketplaces and Secondaries: Platforms where LPs find funds, co-investments and secondaries, then commit and transact. They cover how capital gets into private funds and how it gets out before a fund ends.

Data Infrastructure, Automation and AI: AI extraction engines, data pipelines and document automation built for private markets. They cut manual data entry, pull scattered sources into one place and give LPs clean, reliable data to run on.

Market Data and Benchmarking: Private markets datasets, benchmarks, indices, risk models and market intelligence platforms LPs use to set allocations, choose managers and evaluate them afterward. They give LPs a way to compare performance in a market with no public prices.

CRM, Workflows and Operations: CRM and workflow tools that run an LP team’s day, from manager pipelines to investment committee approvals. LPs track managers the way GPs track deals, and these systems hold the research and notes behind every commitment and re-up.

Due Diligence and ODD: Platforms that run diligence on a manager’s operations: document collection, compliance checks and risk assessments, before an LP commits and while it stays invested. They turn what each manager discloses into data an LP can compare side by side and track over time.

The LP Tech Directory

The map shows where each company sits. The LP Tech Directory shows what each one builds and who it serves. You can filter by function, save a shortlist and request an intro through us.

Several of the builders on this map take the stage next week at The 2026 LP Tech Summit in Toronto on October 6, alongside the LPs they build for, including Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, OMERS, HOOPP, PSP Investments and more.
